Why Being Cozy Feels SO Good!

2020 has been a rough year for everyone. As we all were confined to our homes with nothing to do and no one to see, we all ditched the jeans and stylish attire and reached for the comfiest, coziest clothes we had. Safe to say most of us forgot how to wear “real” clothes! It may seem like nothing, but there is a reason why you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when someone mentions the word “cozy.”

Enclothed Cognition

Ever heard of it? Enclothed cognition is a term used to describe the influence that clothes have on a person’s psychological and behavioral processes. In short, how the clothes we wear, make us act and feel. It is the concept of dressing how you want to feel. If you want a promotion at work, wear that power suit that will make you feel confident enough to go after it. If you want to feel safe, cared for and loved, dress in soft, cozy, plush fabrics that make you feel good. So you can guess why we all turned to our cozy clothes when the world as we knew it was set on fire; we needed to feel good in any way that we could. It may have been that super soft t-shirt you’ve had for years, the yoga pants you never actually do yoga in but always wear around the house, or your favorite fluffy blanket; whatever it was, you reached for it.

We call it cozy, but in Denmark they call it Hygge and it is regarded as a defining feature of their culture. Despite long winter days, with as few as 7 hours of daylight, Denmark remains one of the long-running happiest countries in the world. Many believe Hygge is the reason why. The premise of Hygge is to turn your home into a cozy, safe haven where you and your loved ones can relax, unwind, and be authentic. You may have to be suited up for work, but once you walk through the door at home you are transported into an atmosphere that looks, feels, sounds, and smells warm and inviting that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.

Cozy is Key to Balance

You might be stressed to the max, have a mile-long list of things to do around the house, and your schedule at work may be jam-packed. While getting cozy won’t eliminate your obligations, it can deliver the balance required to recharge your mind, body, and spirit. It’s you making a point to do something nice for yourself, even in the midst of all your responsibilities. To make yourself comfortable and content while you’re checking off that to-do list.

Cozyfy was born to help remind us all of that. To help women remember to take care of themselves, even in the worst of times. To remind women not to feel guilty about doing something nice for themselves. To remind women to support other women everywhere, in making themselves a priority.  That’s what Cozyfy was born for and that’s what Cozyfy stands for. Welcome to the tribe, gorgeous!
